Dr. Jay Kunard - ChiropractorDr. Kunard, DC, CSCS, CKTP, GT

Dr. Jay Kunard is originally from Carlsbad, California. Before pursuing a career in Chiropractic he studied Biology at the University of California Santa Cruz then went on to work in the field of Biotechnology. Dr. Kunard has always found the sciences to be intriguing but his true passion has always been to work in health care. He decided to redirect his career and attended Southern California University of Health Sciences (LACC) and earned a Doctorate in Chiropractic. While attending LACC, Dr. Kunard went on to complete his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and worked at various gyms as a personal trainer. You can find him training and utilizing his expertise in physiotherapy/rehabilitative exercises at Fitness Together Carmel Valley. He has enjoyed playing sports throughout his life including high school and college. In his free time you can catch him playing recreational softball and volleyball through GoVavi, surfing, golfing, marathons, and triathlons.

Specializing in common conditions involved with the general public by correlating patient lifestyle and occupation in the development of treatment and rehabilitation programs. Chiropractic manipulation is emphasized as the primary treatment however myofascial massage, mobilization, stretching, physiotherapy and passive modality techniques may be solely indicated when manipulation is not. Dr. Kunard is passionate about treating sport injuries by utilizing Graston Technique and Kinesio Tape as well as chiropractic manipulation and mobilization. Physiotherapy and rehabilitative exercises are often used in conjunction to chiropractic in order to provide the best treatment outcome.

Living a healthy lifestyle must revolve around exercise, nutrition, and education, “Making healthy choices is an integral component in living and sustaining a healthy life. A sedentary lifestyle can place an individual at risk for developing a variety of health concerns such as high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis, and depression. The benefits of regular activity lead to improved health, stronger muscles and bones, weight control, and reduced stress with a more relaxed state of mind.”
